Toile

Toile de Jouy is the narrative print. Pastoral scenes, figures, and landscapes rendered in a single colour on cream or white ground. One of the most enduring French textile traditions, and it carries quiet storytelling into a room without needing anything else on the walls.

We use heritage Sanderson cotton for our toile shades: the Pillemont Toile in full gathered size, the Mini Sanderson Toile in the ruched-skirt form. Each is handmade to order in our Sandton workshop. Toile works particularly well in principal bedrooms, studies, and sitting rooms with plain upholstery. Pair with the Beaumont bobbin stand for a fully traditional lamp.
