Cotton

Cotton is the fabric we return to most often in the workshop. It takes dye beautifully, holds a crisp pleat through Joburg’s humid summers, and softens lamp light into a warm, even glow. Most of our cotton comes from local South African fabric houses, in weights heavy enough to hold structure without looking heavy in the room. You’ll find cotton in every size we make, from bedside shades through to large floor-lamp pieces. If you want a shade that reads as unfussy and lived-in rather than fragile or precious, cotton is almost always the right call.
