Lilac Coil is a quieter shade in my range: muted lilacs and violets on cream cotton, with fine vine motifs coiling through the pattern. The colours are calm rather than saccharine, which is the trick with lilacs. Softly romantic without tipping into precious.

Handmade in Sandton, hardback frame. I use it in bedrooms and dressing areas. The palette is gentle enough for a room where you sleep, and the vine motif is small enough to feel deliberate up close without dominating.

Best on a Beaumont bobbin in natural wood, where the pale grain lets the lilacs stay quiet. Or on Mistbound if you’d like a slightly cooler tonal look.
