Description
The Beaumont is our hand-turned bobbin lampstand, the piece we’ve built the studio around. Each bobbin is shaped on a traditional wood lathe by a South African wood-turner working with a block of solid Saligna. No copy lathes, no repeat presses. That’s why every Beaumont looks slightly different from the next, and that’s the point.
The raw bobbins then come to our Sandton workshop, where the rest of the work happens. Each one is sanded, primed, and sprayed with a high-gloss coating in one of our three signature colours: Mistbound (a soft blue-grey), Heritage Green (a deep forest tone), or Emberstone (a warm terracotta). Natural wood is available on request. From there we wire each stand for a standard E27 fitting and hand-assemble it before it ships.
Two heights available. The Short Beaumont stands 39cm to the top of the lamp holder with a 13cm base diameter; the taller Beaumont stands 49cm with the same base.
Best paired with one of our gathered lampshades. Start with a medium (36cm) shade for the Short, and a medium or large for the taller.
If you are choosing a shade for this base, my lampshade sizing guide walks through the two rules I use — the two-thirds rule and the width rule.
Turned in Sandton
Every Beaumont is turned individually on a lathe from solid South African Saligna wood in our small Sandton studio. Each base is hand-finished in one of three signature colours: Mistbound, Heritage Green, or Emberstone, and paired with bespoke solid brass fittings and a classic twisted fabric cord.
Pairs with every gathered lampshade in our catalogue — browse the range here. Shipped countrywide via The Courier Guy. Interior-designer trade pricing available on request via WhatsApp on +27 84 509 5892.

Common questions
What is the Beaumont Lampstand made from?
Solid South African Saligna wood, hand-turned one piece at a time on a traditional wood lathe by our local craftsmen — never a copy lathe. Each Beaumont has slightly different grain and character; no two are identical.
What are the dimensions of the Beaumont?
The Beaumont comes in two heights. The Short Beaumont stands 39cm including the lamp holder with a 13cm base diameter. The Beaumont Lampstand stands 49cm including the lamp holder with the same 13cm base diameter. Both take a standard ES (E27) bulb fitting.
What lampshade sizes work with the Beaumont?
A medium (36cm bottom diameter) Enclave gathered lampshade pairs beautifully with the Short Beaumont, and a medium or large (36-41cm) sits well on the taller Beaumont. Our two-thirds rule applies — the shade wants to be about two-thirds the height of the base. See our guide on choosing lampshade sizes for more.
Do you offer the Beaumont in custom colours?
Yes. Our signature finishes are Mistbound (a soft blue-grey), Heritage Green (a deep forest tone) and Emberstone (a warm terracotta) — all applied with a specialised high-gloss coating in our workshop. For a custom colour, WhatsApp me on 084 509 5892 and I’ll come back with options and a quote.
